STEP 1

Wipe it clean.

Once your phone is accepted, reset it so none of your stuff is on it.

STEP 2

Plug it in. Leave it in.

Keep it on the charger.

STEP 3

Connect it to Wi-Fi.

Your home Wi-Fi is all it needs.

THEN

App makers rent it.

Companies that build apps need real phones to test on. They’d use yours over the internet. It never leaves your home.

THE DETAILS

Good questions.

Can I make money today?

Not yet. Paid hosting is still being built. Join the waitlist and we’ll tell you when it opens. You earn when someone rents your phone, not just for having it plugged in.

How much could I make?

It depends on your phone and how often it gets rented. We’ll show rates and fees before you sign up. Earnings aren’t guaranteed, and the electricity and internet are on you.

What do I need?

An old Android phone you don’t use, a charger, home internet and a computer that stays on for the phone to plug into, such as a Raspberry Pi. The PocketShare hub software for that computer is still being built.

Is this passive income?

Pretty close, once it’s set up, but not zero effort. You’d keep the phone charged, online and updated. You only earn when it’s actually rented, and earnings aren’t guaranteed.

How do I get paid?

When paid hosting opens, you’ll connect a payout account. You don’t need any bank details to join the waitlist.
